Day 24; Pahia – Russell Forest Shelter

4 hours.

Today we set off at 8:30am for the high tide approach into Waikare Landing on the water taxi. It was a cracker morning and an awesome ride up the inlet. It took about 30 mins and we went past heaps of the sailing boats that were about for the Bay of Islands sailing regatta. Our taxi skipper was fantastic!

Once at the landing we waved goodbye and headed up the road towards the Russell Forest. After the short road walk it was a nice short walk through the bush then a couple of hours following a stream into the Russell Forest Shelter.

We arrived nice and early at the shelter – about 2pm. We managed to do a bit of laundry and relaxing for the afternoon šŸ™‚ Its a great wee spot for camping and is fantastic to have the shelter there.
